Default Coolant flows out the overflow when car turned off

Hello Good People,

Can someone please chime in and tell me what I may be missing with this overheating issue. It seems when the UltraGauge reaches about 201f I get concerned. We are having an extremely hot Summer thus far. If I turn the Rover off at any temp above 198f than coolant comes out of the overflow tank.
I have bleed the system repeated. Last year I replaced the water pump, put in a new 180f tstat. I didn't have this issue in the Winter and Spring.
When I see the temp going up I quickly turn on the heat thus trying to prevent overheating. I beside that I am not seeing any leaks of any kind while its parts.

I need help please!

T.I.A.

today in 92degree temps my 97 got to 221-224 in traffic, got me concerned but after shutting her down no fans came on and no leaking coolant so for me i think that's the temp my truck wants to operate when hot [180 t-stat] i mention this because the pressure cap may be the culprit if it's doing that at 200 degree temps,it's also an inexpensive part

Good call rjlsierra,
I will get another one, seems they are not all created equally.
Thanks!

221-224!? Wow! Something's not right there. My 96 never gets above 190. Today in 92° heat it was about 185.

Install a new expansion tank cap.

hey fishEH,i should mention the truck for the most part will run 188 to 196,it's only after alot of stop and go traffic [mostly stop] does it creep up incrementally, after hitting 221 when i start driving it did go down below 220 just didn't drive long enough to get lower, the other thing i meant to mention is the exp tank itself can and does crack at the seams so check that out as well, sometimes it's hard to see where coolant is leaking from

Do you have a black expansion tank or a clear expansion tank as the black tank tend to split at the seam. If the issue is with stop and go you may have a bad viscous fan clutch and if it wobbles the water pump will also need to replace. Check the fan clutch when cold it should spin when hot it shouldn't move much.

viscous is not old and hard to spin when hot,wp is less than 3yrs old,rad is 4yrs old and oem, coolant has been changed and a bottle of hyperlube [water wetter] added, infra red readings don't show large differences measured at corners of rad, sorry if you weren't talking to me!!!

Is your viscous fan kicking in? It should sound like a jet engine, LOL.
A little cooler today and temp reading 174-180.

thanks fish, since this is toran's thread don't want to cut in but all these parts of cooling system should be checked, btw how would you tell if viscous fan is engaging while truck is on [don't seem to hear jet engine sounds] but i changed it with the wp and it is spinning, can you stop it while it's spinning?
