Where and how much are people getting these 300TDI's? I would love to get one because I hate this 3.9 in my 95 DI.

some info for you guys! pedal box swapped right in without disturbing the brake lines too much. don't try to put crossmember and transmission in at the same time. take the studs out of bottom of the mounts to get them lined up without squishing or stretching the mounts. don't forget the little clip that goes on the tob fork before you put the engine and trans together.

mine is in and sounds great! however a few problems I can't quite figure out.

temp gauge is not doing anything. tried grounding it and a few other wires and nothing happens at all. still using v8 cluster if that matters

fuel gauge is going crazy saying i have 3/4 a tank when i put 2 gallons of diesel in. i used silver creek motors method

speedometer does nothing

and need to figure out how to wire reverse lights.

any help is appreciated!

On the temp gauge, have you verified the sender is good? I had the same problem, and it turned out to be the sender. There are two, it is the one with the single pin on the passenger side of the block. I still have the V8 cluster in mine.

I'll look at my wiring for the speedo and see if there was a jump or bypass because of the ECU/non EDC fuel pump - I didn't want the fly-by-wire pump.

i have not. anyway to test the sender? i could also have the wrong wire. there are two green w/blk wires coming from the bulkhead switches and i thought i saw somewhere it could be green w/blue.

thanks!

i may not even bother with this temp sender. came across the correct part numbers for vdo gauge and sender
310-105 2 1/16 250F Elec. engine temp gauge Vision
323-095 Temperature Sender: 250F/120C - 1/8-27 NPT

50 bucks with shipping and ill know the actual temp haha

Did you use the v8 transmission harness? I was able to swap it over and plug strait in. And on the reverse lights you will need to find the reverse wires from the old auto shifter and connect them to the r380 reverse switch. I didn't have a wiring diagram so a lot of this is just trial and error. Same with the engine wiring. Try either green wire one will work with your cluster.

awesome i will get that sorted tomorrow. if that goes well my only problem is the fuel gauge. my gauge always seemed a little off with the v8. maybe ill just replace that with vdo gauge & sender too

thanks!

Im in the process of this swap myself. switching a 97 from a 4.0/auto to a 300/r380.

The green/blue is indeed the water temp guage.

Whats the story on the neutral safety switch bypass? I cant get power to my starter solenoid circuit and im sure that is the issue.

a little update first! vdo gauge installed and engine runs at perfect temps. fuel gauge fixed by just unplugging and plugging back in. found the plug on the back of the trans and the speedo works.

made it over 500 miles on a full tank to the light on!

i couldn't get it to crank at first either and couldn't figure out why. i ended up using a new wire from the ignition straight to the starter.
