Default Cruise control thought

Been toying with getting my cruise working, switch seems to work, I figured it was the module behind the instrument cluster, and I have a D2 module to wire in. It occurred to me as I was driving home the other night that just maybe the cruise is not working because my ABS light is on. I had issues with it awhile back and pulled the fuse so it wouldn't activate. I found it tends to lengthen your stopping distance a LOT so I decided to disable it.

Could the abs system be shutting down the cruise??

I doubt it. My ABS fuse is pulled and so is the idiot light. And my Cruise works.

How were you able to diagnose the switch? I can't get mine to activate. It has the background light when the lights are on, but won't light up when pushed. I haven't tried volt meter testing yet, because if it doesn't activate till over 30 mph or so, then I figured I couldn't test unless driving. Am I right or over thinking it?

Over-thinking. The switch will light once pushed but the Cruise won't engage until over 30. Check the fuses, the light bulb in switch and for sure the vacuum pump since they lock up from not being used. Believe me, the cruise on these trucks sucks *****. I wasted allot of fuel using it. I don't care if I walk with a Rover limp, right toes down, left foot dead flat like a hammer. (Actually this is the first automatic I've needed to use both feet with.)

Does it suck even when driving on flat roads or just on hills with acceleration and deceleration? All of my fuses are good, but it won't light up when pushed other than it's background light when headlights are on. If this thing sucks that bad, then I may just remove it. We shall see after testing today

Give it a go, find out for yourself. I didn't need to replace anything I just had to reattach a line and get the pump to spin, didn't take me too long to get it working.

My cruise isn't too bad. Its a little slow to downshift in the hills but otherwise its fine.
Haven't noticed any worse gas mileage with it. My cruise didn't work for 4 years. I drove from Illinois to Moab without it. 16 hours to Denver in 1 day. My leg was completely cramped up foe the last 2 hours. A working cruise control is nothing to underestimate.
