D1 Clutch pedal problems - definitely end of Disco’s life ?
Hello,
This afternoon, on a very calme ride -I always drive calmly- the clutch pedal stayed down to te floor and I could finally lift the pedal with my hand after stopping the car. But from then I could depress the pedal only for just 2 or 3 cm, without the possibility to change from gearing !
Finally I phoned the car breakdown service ; he succeeded in driving the Disco -more a large jump with expelling a small cloud of black smoke- upon his cargofloor to transport my Disco to my service garagist.
It just happened and I’ve never, really never, been aware of strange signs when engaging/disengaging the clutch pedal. But the gearlever itself feels already for more then about 2 year very “loosy”. And meanwhile I have to overarticulate the lever to shift from gear. Could there by a relation between both facts ?
Has anybody got a similar breakdown ? I’m interested in your -sad- story and your advise !
Greetings,
PierroDisco
As for (to) many Disco’s before, it was again the pivot pin which had finally pounced through the clutch lever fork ! See picture. It just happens, no matter what your drivestyle is, told my garagist. He hold always a small stock levers, just in case. On the clutch plates (after about 170.000 km) were also traces of beginning wear, so my garagist has replaced them.
The replacement lever forks now are reinforced, those of Land Rover Lever pivot pin punched through lever fork
itself and those from OEM.
