Got my D1 about 7 years ago and about 90K miles. After a bit of detective work and a lot of replacing/repairing the neglected stuff, I can honestly say it has never left me stranded. There are a few issues I work around, but you either fix them yourself or pay someone to do it for you. Spending that much on an older vehicle, I would expect everything to be in top condition, and some sort of a warranty.
That being said, I recently purchased a 1999 D1 and towed it home. It ran briefly and now it doesn't. 139K miles and little to no rust. Waiting on parts now. but it will be running soon. Only paid less than $1,000... I guess we all have our price. If it is worth it to you, and you want it, it's up to you to set the max price you will pay.

@stillruns welcome to Birmingham! Great have another LR forum member in town (I'm sure there are more, just not that I am aware of). Land Rover's are popular here, but mostly for the higher end neighborhood folks that carry their kids around in them as usual...

I appreciate the offer! If you have a chance soon, go check out the truck at RMR. It was a one owner, and it shows. Apparently they have hand written service records from the original owner, I wasn't able to stay long enough when I looked at it to check those out.

Ultimately after some soul searching, I think I will pass on this one. Mainly because I am not crazy about the Beluga Black color. I much prefer Green or White.

Currently looking at a rust free Disco II with an owner who's fixed all the DII issues and more. And also a clean D1 getting a 5 speed swap, both from forum members.

Thanks for all the offer @stillruns I would love to see your D1 sometime. If you need help navigating the local automotive community let me know. I used most of the local shops, I work at Barber Motorsports Park (driving instructor), and I grew up on the trails that litter the outskirts of town. There's plenty of great off roading nearby.
