Default Defender Brake Upgrade on D1

So I remember hearing about how we can beef up our brakes with the defenders calipers. Now I don't know much about defenders but if I get the front brake calipers off of a 95 defender 90 will they work for the front and rear of my D1?

Front yes. D90 and D1 have the same rear brakes already.

EDIT:

oh are the rotors changeable also? or can I keep the disco rotors and still use defender calipers?

Have to admit I have never herd of putting breaks from defender (90) onto a disco 1. I have done alot of rear axle conversions from discovery onto earlier 90's as they had drum breaks.

No, rotors aren't the same.
You need D90 front calipers and front rotors.
You also need to make new hard lines between the flex line and caliper (though some have had luck bending the Disco lines, I'm too OCD for that).

I have a bunch of photos from when I did mine in my photobucket album:

But I did all new brakes, including MC and SS flex lines.

You will need the D90 rotors, those are vented disks. Just get new ones since they are cheap anyway. Rebuilding the calipers are easy and straight forward....

Are the wheel bearings different or the hub seals? Still RTC3511 right?

Justin can get this kit for around $300

includes new front rotors and calipers

Nothing else is different bolts up and you have to put a little bend in the hard brake line to get it to fit.

I forgot to mention you also need new caliper hardware, the pad retaining pins and springs are longer.
