Default Deteriorating throttle boot/gaiter

Hey guys,

See pictures below. This rubber boot around part of my throttle linkage has deteriorated. (I just bought the truck, so it was the previous owner who was irresponsible enough to let it get this bad :P). A few questions on this: is it a crucial part? It seems to have a spring inside that pushes the slider back down the pivot bolt there. What is it called and where the heck can I get a new one? The RAVE doesn't seem to mention it at all, unless I've missed something, and I can't find anywhere online that sells them.
