Default Diff Lock Won't Engage

Hey guys, I need some help here. I few weeks ago we started getting a nasty vibration in the 96 disco. So first I replaced the Rotoflex, and dropped the trans pan and changed the filter. Vibration still there and noticed a reciprocating squeak that occasionally occurred. So I decided I would pull the front drive shaft and engage the diff lock to see if I could isolate the vibration. Finally got that dang shaft loose and now the diff lock will not engage. Rover goes no where. Could the vibrations have been the center diff? If so is it probably toast then? What else could be going on.

No, only the '97-'99 DI's have 4 u-joints.
If you have a early build '97 it will have 3.
Early build '97's are actually left over '96 stock and are non advanced EVAP.
'99's are left over '98 stock.

don't want to jack the thread but I lubed the heck out of the linkage today and have it going nice high low, I can pry the lock over from underneigth and the light comes on pry it back and it goes out but I cannot get the shifter to move left

had dad working the shifter while i was under and the top linkage pin is not budging, other then ripping the truck apart or breaking off the shifter is there any decent suggestions, if I had access to a lift i could probly smack it loose with my thor hammer

just keep soaking the shifter and linkage?

Thats what I had to do, it just keep lubing the hell out of the linkage and wiggling it over the course of several days to get mine to work.
Carb cleaner broke the corrosion loose, then PB Blaster to get it working.

Once you get it working use it once a month just to keep it working, the more you use it the better it works.
