I had someone offer to sell me a 2000 Disco II cheap. What parts might I salvage for my 1997 Disco I SD? The 2000 runs but codes for throttle, trannie, and various others come up. I am really looking for a partsvehicle, not a fixer upper and this one seems to have loads of issues according to the codes.

There are zero interchangeable parts between the DI and DII.

 

How about the brush guard off a DII?

Nope, the frames are different width's as well as the bodies.
Some parts will fit with modification, but those parts are few and far between.
The diffs and t-case will fit no problem.

 

WRONG...

Sunroofs are 100% interchangeable. I've used 2 sets off DII's in my DI's.

The DII rear view mirror can also be used in a D1 with a little mod. My 97 used one.

Yeah, there are a few other parts that are the same, but most aren't worth the time. The dash is the same, but the harness that goes with it isn't. The fascia around the radio and climate control is the same. The center console is the same.

 

Make sure to grab the mirror and those sunroofs... Do a simple search on what a new mirror or replacement sunroofs cost and you will covet those.

 

This is why I looked for an S when I bought my 2003. No sunroofs or air suspension to worry about
