Default Disco I windows not working

hi,
i recently acquired a 1999 disco 1. front windows were working but the back were not. i read somewhere about the window lift ecu and got the board out and resoldered the contact and the windows were working again. then the right back window stopped working.

short story long, i removed the board(while the key was on) and saw some spark. checked the fuse and the front window fuse was out. replaced but all windows now not working, except for the front passenger now only goes down but not up. the other threee windows not not working.

what could be wrong? i resoldered again but still the same. is my ecu/board fried? should i buy another one or could it be other issues?
the front windows was working well. the the back was working when i first fixed and re installed it. now all is not right. please help?

sounds like you let out some of the magic smoke, without it board nfg, ( fried the board or part of it)

There's a new one on Ebay going for $225 with free shipping. I got a used one, which also comes with the ABS and cruise control units for $125.

You might want to compare with Paul Grant, a dismantler that frequently posts here. Or a boneyard near you.

This.
And have you tried bypassing the board? I completely bypassed my rear window ECU with some wiring similar to the kit AB sells.

i saw a lot of completed autions on ebay for a lot cheaper than i paid but i am in a rush to get it going. i didn't look for a savage yard nearby, which would be the best for my situation.
btw, all windows were working before the board got shorted. i was so happy until everything stopped working after the smoke/spark from the board when i pulled it back out without turning off the ignition.

i don't know how to bypass the rear windows, but my fronts are not working also at this point. if the new board won't do the trick, then i'll have to look into that option. hopefully i can find a thread of how to do that on here.

thanks much for the link. i'll wait to see if the ecu will work. otherwise, i'll have to do the bypass. any idea if the front windows can be done as well. all i see is bypass info for the rear windows.
