Default Disco Newbie - Charleston Green

Hey guys, my names Micah, just bought my first LR1. It’s a 1997 SD in Charleston Green. I bought it from a lady in Illinois who could no longer get in to it. The engine seems cared for, no weird noises. Got me 250 miles back to Indiana!
The interior is very rough, however. The driver’s seat cushion is completely caved in. The electronic box for seat movement is missing (passenger still has it). There’s a rusted crack under the driver’s seat as well, and another along the entire length of the truck bed. Thankfully, I have people to weld that for me.
Exterior was pretty filthy, no dents though! The hood paint is in very rough shape, I plan on painting it soon.
I’m a little nervous about owning one, as I’ve heard about all the upkeep. Although, I don’t see why it would be more upkeep than any old truck. But I’m willing to learn.
It is by far my favorite looking vehicle of all time. You’ll be hearing a lot more from me in the future, I’m sure!

Pretty cool find. Is this intended to be your daily driver?

As a buddy warned me when I bought my 97 Disco - “...you’re gonna spend more time under it than in it.” Now after 9 years for owning I can’t say he was wrong. That said it’s been a great truck to own. Enjoy it for all its quirks and “character” and i can’t see ever getting rid of it. Hope yours proves as worthwhile.

Yep. Maybe not the brightest idea, but... I have people who can drive me to work!

Welcome! Love that color. I don't see a lot of D1's around anymore and I don't know that I've ever seen that particular color. And congrats on not having any sunroofs, they're a very common and somewhat expensive problem to have.

I have a 97 that I think is Epsom green--the more common version. I also have really bad clear coat peeling, so I'd be curious how you go about addressing that. Please post on that and the rest of your travels with your new rig!
