Default Disco Saudi Grill?

I'm looking at getting one but I'm having a very hard time finding one. I'm about to repaint my hood and so it would be a perfect time to paint this too if I can find one. Any idea where I can find one? Also being in Texas, would it be a significant help cooling the motor or is it pretty much just for looks?

You shouldn't need to change the grille to help with cooling. If you have overheating issues, they need fixed. As for the grille...I think it is for looks and utilitarianism.

Check in the sticky, I believe there's a write up on a diy saudi grill.

I agree with Chris-Bob, make sure your coolant system is working well.

A lot of the guys did get creative with cutting up the plastic and doing a "SaudiGrill"

But you still got flimsy plastic holding flimsy gutter screening (that is what is in that write-up), not much of a grille in my opinion.

I had remove3d my plastc air dams and all that junk and ended up pulling out the grille as well. I had a piece of expanded metal grate material that is pretty substantial. It was the right size to just cut it across the center and it fits from headlight to headlight, the bottom edge sits right on the frame where the bumper attaches and the top is securd with the top edge of the former plasticgrille. I have two layers of it slightly offset such that you cannot see thru to the items behind it like you could with a single layer in place.

A lot off the new trucks and some of the new high end cars have a nice metal wire grille that look a lot like my free one. Someone else also recently posted a site that sells a multitude of nice looking ornamental perforated metals that could be done in a similar fashion instead of that flimsy gutter guard material.

They even had a variety of colors available.

Default Here is a link to purchase from vendor

Land Rover Discovery II Accessories

I personally like the look and have been contemplating buying one some day. Got a couple of other "wants" higher up on the priority list right now.

The Saudi grill does increase air flow and aid in engine cooling, with that being said unless you live where it is 140*F in the shade you dont need extra cooling.

Thanks for the links and info. I don't have any current cooling issues but if it will help significantly then it is a purchase worth making. If not then it's just if I want to buy it for the looks or not question.

It will not help keep your engine cool under normal conditions, all it does is allow the fan to pull more air past the radiator, but that is a moot point under normal conditions.
If you want it just for the looks that's cool (no pun intended), it will not effect engine cooling in Anchorage or Dallas.

Default To each his own...

Hey, few people need 4-6 extra lights up front, a work light (or 2) in back, lift, inverters, roof racks, fire extinguishers, snake bite kits, etc... Doesn't stop them from buying. Talk about cooling - some swear by Water Wetter, et al, but arguably it has no measurable effect on coolant temps (ask me if I use it, though, and the answer is yes).

Equip however you want, and have fun! Post pics if you buy the grill before me!
