Default disco update

hi

managed to fit the 80 series rear end today to the back of the disco, am going to be running 33" x 12.5 tires, they stick out a bit but wide flares should do the trick, not to mention cutting a bit out of the panels have got approx 2" lift, 1 " in the springs and 1 " in the modded spring seat, i have made them adjustable to level the truck up when finished, am aiming to do this with out a body lift.

Looking good. Thats about how far my 33x12.50s stick out and the flexiflares cover them up.

so those are the land cruiser springs? Do you know what your ride height is now? Im pretty excited, mine should be coming in today with a little luck. With the 33" tires and how wide they are, you'll definitely need steering stops etc right? I'm trying to find the perfect match of nice and wide without needing to do too much else to the truck. If i have to run a little camel cut to stop scrubbing, that's cool, but i dont think i want to do much more than that.

the springs are a aftermarket land rover spring, name eludes me at present, about 1" spring lift and i have made adjustable spring mounts as well giving another 1", but can adjust to get another 1.5", i am trying to avoid a body lift at present but if ido haveto then it will be no more that 1.5" as for cutting i am guessing i will have to lose 1.5-2" of guard
as the cruiser housings are wider 1600 mm face to face rover is 1550mm, overall width is about 1960mm wide

cheers

front in and driven it, not bad for 2.5 days work the steering lock is WAY better turns alot tighter, can almost do a u turn in the road, cruiser steering arms is about 15mm shorter so get more travel, and the 80 series have awesome steering lock as well. that is a major improvement, the steering is a tad heavier but ok, drives and rides nice, brakes need improving but the Pressure reducing valve is leaking so will replace that and see what happens, i simply plugged off the secondry circuit with a ball bearing under a brake nut, still have the line to the back brakes, and have the high pressure line to the front. will also check calipers are free and moving.

Does the front FJ axle have an open Ujoint or is it a swivel ball like the rover axle?

Your truck looks awsome...I always said that they should include a truck lift when you buy a LR....

intending to get some epoxy resin and matting tomorrow and fill the rear door in where the 2 panels dont quite meet, so once cured can cut the door to allow for tire clearance, no metal folding required

will take pics

got hold of the epoxy and a microfibre filler, so stripped the door, sand blasted the areas i wanted to epoxy and then packed as much as i could in, you can only access the top of the arch and the lower front of the arch,

i left it over night and then cut the door this mornnig

as you can see the epoxy was in two places, so once i had he desired profile in the door both inner and outer skins aligned etc i sand blasted the inner panel and mixed up more paste and forced it into place

then left this and continued to cut the rear panel and inner door frame

ti have folded the rear panel and door frame over about 15mm right angle fold, my intent is to mount the rubber conveyor rubber off this fold, but are also looking at bolting a bit of flat bar to rear panel and welding to door frame to hold the rubber and also to put a bit more strength into that area,

one side down other side to go.

seems very effective way to cut the panel, a bit of mucking around stripping but not having to fold ali and steel and attach to each other seems to be a bonus
