Question Discovery is a bouncy, tippy, rocking ride?

Hi,

Just wondering if someone has any ideas. I notice that my ride has gotten bouncier over the years, and the best way to describe it is as though you are on a boat that is rocking back and forth on the ocean.

I have BFG T/A KO (10 ply tires) 245/75R16, all four filled to 40 psi. New Medium duty Old Man Emu Springs and Shocks (within the last 1-2 years) which gave me a nice 2" lift and were installed professionally.

Even prior to the lift I noticed the vehicle was feeling that tippy feeling especially on the highways at 80-90 Kph (50-55 Mph).

Any ideas? Could it be the toughness of the tires, or is there something I am missing?

If you bounce on one corner does it stay bouncing? If so its your shocks. If its swaying at speed check panhard, radius arm, trailing arm, and A-arm bushings.

Agree with CUpgt. Could be a few really bad bushings or between all of them with just a little wear can translate to a bunch of wobble and sway.

good luck

Buy the Orange Polybush kit and a press and replace them all.

It is the latter, the swaying at higher speeds.

I will keep this in mind, and probable require new bushings as I don't think they have ever been changed.

Funny, my ex gf's '95 disco had a new suspension installed, and it handled almost like a car. Same tires as me, but stock size.

My mother's '99 Disco I also handles like a car and doesn't sway at highway speeds....

Thank you all for the help and input

Just a couple of follow up questions.

I see a "SuperPro Poly Bush Kit"... does anyone have experience with these?

I see the orange polybush kit...

I also see that there is a red kit as well... and have read some other forums saying to go with OEM instead.

What are experiences, opinions, and overall consensus?

Thank you

I have done jeeps, and ford trucks with radius arms, Chevy trucks, and my 01 dodge ram 1 ton 4 x4

So the swap is no biggie but I have only ever used energy brand, they do not seem to sell for rovers though

AFAIK all the poly bushings are more firm than stock, so I went with the blue(soft). Orange(medium) is between blue and red(firm). Also figured I'd preserve articulation by going with blue. Most guys go with orange though.

I hear the quality of genuine bushing used to be better, that's why guys go for the poly bushings now.
