Where is the set screw?
This is great news, but I see no trace of an allen head set screw anywhere. I have checked the entire rubber surface of the ****, looked under the cover at the shaft and no hint of a way to remove it! I have the **** and the shaft down to the pivot point. It would seem a simple task not requiring more disassembly to remove the plastic housing. I need to remove the malfunctioning interlock mechanism (locks in Park position)so I can take it for its smog test, run in the Park position! I can drive it but have to manually disengage the solenoid plunger if I go into Park position. Almost there with one more hint!

Second, from memory removing the shifter **** is pretty straightforward. Pop the cover off with a small flat tip screwdriver. Then there's a C-clip I think. Then a nut you need to unscrew. After that the **** just pulls up and off.
