Default Drag link removal from arm

First semi-major maintenance done on my disco, drag links were pretty loose. Ordered two of them and they will be here tomorrow but I can't seem to get the old ones loose. Any recommendations?

I went to my auto parts place in town and got one of these things to pop them off the steering arm.

Do I need this to get them removed? LRT-57-018? Any advice?

your new tool should work.....get it tight and then hit the puller bolt or the old ball joint with a BFH....the shock of that should make it cooperate.
could also heat it with a torch if you have one available

If you're junking the old TRE's just hit the end with a BFH, it'll pop loose. One time I stuck a floor jack between the top of the TRE on the drop ARM and the frame to get the TRE to pop loose.

You'll probably have a more difficult time unthreading the old TRE's from the drag link.

Sorry, yeah I am having a crappy time trying to get the TRE off of the drag link. I got the clamp loose but the are like welded to the drag link lol. Wish I had a torch and a vice

You'll most likely need a torch, even a Home Depot one with some Mapp gas should work. A vise, pipe wrench, cheater bar, and PB Blaster are needed too.
If you ever plan on offroading your truck now is the perfect time to drop $100 on a HD drag link and save yourself the headache of trying to salvage the old one.

Probably right, worth getting the whole set from lucky8 and save myself from headaches later on.

Quick question, when installing them back do I need to put some lube on the TRE and the steering arm?

I always completely cover the TRE threads with antiseize when installing. They come out real nice then.

Most aftermarket HD drag links will come with a RH and LH TRE. Im pretty sure stock set up is RH RH. Just before you get a suprise
