I have seen people on here post that if you replace the ecu that you have to have it reprogrammed...however...my question is this.
there is a lr disco at my local junk yard and I can pull the parts save me hyndreds of dollars if these parts are still on there. if I replace the ecu, bcem, and the antitheft ecu all from the same vehicle they should in theory play nice with each other without having to reprogram? I have seen people post saying you dont have to reprogram and I have seen people say that they have replaced the ecu with one from the same model and year and still had to have the dealer reprogram. I was just wondering what you thought. I am trying to avoid the dealer

the box of the ecm was corroded I took it out took it apart cleaned it with contact cleaner put it back together and glued around the edge....I can now uplink a scanner....did not resolve my problem but it had to help that thing was so bad it looked like snot inside. the boards in these things are great though just where they placed it was a poor choice and I bet a lot of people have this problem.
