Default 98 Rover BCeM odd but huge problem

so i rolled all the windows down in the garage one day, the next day i get in and the battery is dead. i charged the battery up and then the RR window wouldnt roll up. so i let it go for the day. then the battery died again and then i charged it and it said fuse #22 i think the RR window and heated seats, was blown. so i put another 30 amp in and it blew, so after finding out the RR window motor was so hot i couldnt touch it(shorting out). so i unplug the door and put a 30 amp in and it works. i was replacing the motor and charging the battery again and then i smell something burning up. hear to find out the BCeM is smoking. so i unhook it all take this apart and here to find out the 4 relays are melted and tosted the wires too. so was the cause to this that window motor shorting out and not blowing the fuse right away or what? i would like to but a new BCeM but i dont want that to melt the relays again. i am stuck with a broken Rover what should i do? i am new to this site. thank you to who ever can help me with my problem

what state are you in? There is a rover mech here in IL that could help you. Glenn @ therovershopinc.com

Well, if your BECM was smoking then it is toast. Anytime any sort of computer smokes it is gone and needs to be replaced (whether with cars or desktop PCs). You are likely to find a used one on ebay for a descent price or on roverparts for something outrageous. As a precaution I would also replace the fuse box and the window motor as a precautionary measure unless you can get the motor to work else where without any issues and you open up the fuse box and see ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong.
