Default Electric Power Steering Pump Conversion COMPLETED for 14CUX (pre-GEMS) Disco-1

Hi guys,

I converted my 1995 NAS Discovery (14CUX engine, with a distributor) from the crappy mechanical pump to an amazingly controllable electric one! I have been adding notes to the thread that originally referenced my project (over in the Disco-2 forum) and so I figure I should paste a link to it here, where it belongs:

https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...t-34700/page4/

In a nutshell: RUN, don't walk... it makes the disco (with a manual tranny anyways) drive like a new car!

Admins, if there is a better way that you prefer, let me know and I will update it! :-)

Am I understanding this correctly? This conversion will let me ditch the leaky oem power steering pump and free up a little
hp as well?

Several months now. And it is a pleasure to drive. Especially now that I put the tall & skinnies on (235/85/16). I updated the old Camel Cut thread and posted some pics and info over on discoweb ( https://discoweb.org/index.php?threa...1/post-1132780 )
