Bad gas and the need of a tune up. This should clear most of the problems. If a good tune up doesn't clear the issue and the check engine you can start to dig deeper. Do not forget the truck sat for 2 years, time has the same effect as mileage.

www.roverparkboys.com they are in Alberta
www.britrest.com they are in Lennoxville Qc
www.roverbec.com they are in Laval Qc
or the nearest stealership

You can also try www.roverparts.com or www.roversnorth.com but they are in the US and they overcharge for shipping in Canada IMO.

A VSS is close to 150$. I think you would be better to give the truck a good tune up if it's not already done before buying a VSS.

Bad gas wont cause you to loose spark.
But a bad VSS or coil will.
Cam sensor controls injectors.
Crank sensor controls spark and fuel pump power.

It misses when it's in park and I rev it. Could that still be vss or would vss only act up while it's moving

Thanks Phil, I wasn't paying attention to the model. Yes, a speed switch will be the most likely issue so follow Phil's post and replace the switch, clear the codes and see what shows up.
With your mileage, you should also be replacing all 4 02's as well as the cam sensor, if it doesn't go away after clearing the codes.

If the truck does it in park wouldn't it eliminate the bad VSS possibility?
