Engine swap to TDI
That's pretty warm for a northern location. I'm in the south of the province of Quebec (1h from Maine) and last week we got three straight days of -30C and this week kicked off with three days of -20C. I will have to get a block heater in my TDI when I'll do the swap.
Yeah, I will do a coolant heater/pump, just to make it more comfortable in the winter. I am trying to get info right now as to if the stock manual 5 speed will work with the TDI, or if I have to replace it as well. Everywhere I've looked, it walks about replacing the auto tranny with a manual or a diesel auto, but it never mentions the stock 5 speeds. I hope that means I can keep it.
I was told the input shaft in the V8 R380 5 speed is different that the TDI. However, I have no first hand knowledge.
Alternatively, Duncan at Land Rover Import assured me I can use the t-case that was mated to my auto tranny with the 5 speed.

I've called and emailed them and have yet to hear from them.(only been two days).
