I am sorry if this sounds confusing but what isn’t when it comes to LR electrical right?
I am in the process of replacing my radio with an aftermarket Pioneer unit i had laying around. It has both speaker level outputs and line level outputs for front, rear, and subs. I used the Metra 70-9400 adapter and had ground loop noise that I was expecting. I tried adding an additional ground to the radio with no luck. I plan on bypassing the front amp but I do not want to lose the subs so I started drawing up diagrams. I looked through the RAVE and got my pin-outs for the front amp plug (C2054), radio plug (C260), and sub amp plug (C412). I have all my wiring figured out except for the subs.
My main question is where the heck do the sub wires from pin 9 and 10 on the radio connector (C260) go? I have searched the RAVE high and low and see no reference to pins 9 and 10 going to the front amp or the sub amp. On the front amp there are only 4 input wires and the common ground and the sub amp input comes from the front amp pins 10, 12, and 13.
Which option would work? I don’t want to buy an aftermarket amp for the subs.
Option 1: Completely bypass the front amp would pin 12 and 13 become sub left and right RCA's sharing a ground with 10?
Option 2: If I keep the front amp but disconnect the 8 output speaker wires and connect them to the radio’s speaker wiring, and use the radio sub pre-out RCA’s going to the front amp to drive the subs.
Option 3: Start a petition to keep Land Rover engineers from designing electrical circuits?
Thanks for all your help!
Also I have connector drawings I can upload later if it helps.
You will want to go with:

Wire your speakers front and rears directly to the radio and bypass the amp, remove it all together located in the passengers kick panel, as for the sub the amp is located in the rear door behind the actual subwoofer assembly, if you remove the subwoofer you will find a small amp similar to the look of the front amp just half the size. The factory subwoofer amp and subwoofers where bad so I replaced the woofers and Dremel out to fit the replacement woofers as for the amp since it was also bad I installed a aftermarket amp for the sub. if your factory sub amp works you should be able to connect half of a RCA cable connected to the subwoofer line level out from your aftermarket radio and on the other end at the factory amp location in the kick panel connect the other end of the RCA cable that you previously ran to pins 12, 13, and 10.
I can do most anything on my rover but boy! I wish I knew what you guys are talking about! I also changed my radio to a dsl18 head and installers connected rear sub with original amp, after awhile it really started to make some distorted noises [when opening and closing door!] and loud thumping so I disconnected it,it was doing it on and off at times, really would like to know how to reattach [don't mean just plugging it back in!]and getting it working right, will keep reading posts
I replaced the blown subs with Pyle 6-1/2"s about a year ago and the amp is still strong. My main issue is ground loop whine with the engine running using the Metra 70-9400 RCA's. I have added a ground to the deck going to the trans hump and still had a whine. I added another ground from the passenger kick panel to pins 10 (Sub audio shield) and 11 (deck audio common) as well as disconnecting the CD changer under the seat. The whining is greatly reduced but its still present. If I bypass the front amp and use pins 12 and 13 as a sub pre-amp would that makeup one RCA plug? Its been a while since I messed with or made RCA plugs and I am a bit confused.

Thanks for the link! I used that the other day to help me draw the pinout for the front amp.

I thought about those subs but went with the Pyle subs on Amazon when they had a sale on them! Your thread on the sub amp wiring helped me draw up the schematic. I will end up buying a 200 watt 2-channel amp one day but I have spent my toy budget for the month between the Rover, two vintage motorcycle restorations, and a free to me golf cart being converted to a hunting buggy, I dont want to make the wife mad! I have to sleep next to her!

Are you using aftermarket 6-1/2" subs in the rear door? I would hook them back up, take the trim cover off and try to pin point the noise. It could be the subs vibrated loose from the mount. If they are the factory subs, the cones have a tendency to rot and crumble.
Here are the diagrams I made using the forum and the Rave Manual if they help.
Also I forgot to ask if anyone knows where Pin 9 and 10 on C260 go? Clearly they do not go to the front or sub amp. The Rave has no mention of them in the circuit diagrams either.
replaced my old subs with one I bought on ebay [old ones cones were gone] they are identical so i'll try plugging them in again, would the base volume turned up cause thumping? could it be that simple for me!!! I know it isn't, when I close door with radio on as it depresses the door button it groans!

- no idea where 9 and 10 go. I suspect they go to the amp and the ETM has an error of omission.
- Subs are mono. No need for a 2 ch amp for the subs.
- have you tried putting the GLI between the head and the amp?
