There is another way to get the fan off.
Buy a 36mm open end wrench.
Put it on the nut and take a big hammer and wack the wrench towards the passenger side.
Wack it hard, it might take one or two wacks but she will break loose.
Quick wacks too, sharp and quick.

 

Down here we have right hand drive so passengers side is on the left. So if I hit it to my passenger side that would be clockwise and since these are lefthand thread that would be the correct way to undo.
Im guessing you have lefthand drive so your passengers would be anticlockwise hence tightening. I might be wrong??

 

The loosening will be in the same direction, so facing the front of the truck you need to go counter clockwise or to your left.
