Default Found this in my oil pan.

Hey all,

just did a oil oil change and was digging around the oil pan with my pinky through the drain hole. I pulled this small goldish colored cylinder thing out of the pan. Anyone know what is might have belonged to and how it ended up in my pan... I’m assuming it’s a bad thing no matter what, just hoping it’s not something too critical.

Sorry cant figure how to get the upload to work. Here is a link : https://m.imgur.com/a/PoNJodQ

Its a spacer for the valve cover gaskets. It prevents over compressing them. The last time they were replaced it probably fell off and dropped the engine.
You mat want to grab a strong magnet and start at the outside edges of the oil pan and bring it back to the drain plug to make sure there's no more debris in there.

Thank you so much for the reply! That is a relief. I’m going to probably drop the oil pan when I get some free time. I’ve got that tick going and if fixing the exhaust leak doesn’t help, I’ll pull the front cover and check the timing chain. Seems like the front cover is new compared to the rest of the engine parts. Again thank you for the quick reply. This place had been fantastic for knowledge, hopefully someday I can pay that back...
