Default Found this in oil pan. What is it?

Motor was rebuilt by a machine shop. Been ran for about 15 minutes total. Has a tap on passenger side. Drained oil and pulled the pan for inspection and found this in the pan. Any clue what it is?

Also, I have silver dust in the oil and a max oil pressure of 30 psi. Bearings?

A view from inside the oil pan

And the filter from draining. The large pieces appear to be metal. Or at least something hard...

The brass ring is a spacer from the valve cover gasket.

The glitter in the oil... possible they did a ****ty job cleaning up after honing the sleeves? Rings still wearing in?

I've never opened up a rebuild that soon after running it, so I can't say for sure on either.

That's better than hearing it's a valve retainer or something. Thank you.

And yes, rings, bearings, and cams are all fresh.

I've heard of slipped bearings causing a glitter as well. Wasn't sure.

On a full rebuild there should be metal in the break in oil that's why you use the hi zinc break in oil, that could also be some old leftover crud from them cleaning the block

When I first ran mine it made some noises oil light was off but made noises I did not like, they went away after I ran it a bit and drove it around so idk, and yes its scary having noises on a brand new engine

yes, the spacer is from one of the valve cover
finding that kind of particulars is normal on a rebuild that is why you change your oil after 500miles.
why did you shut it down after 15 minutes, it takes longer than that to bed the cam and lifters

Thank you Tom. That's good info and positive reassurance. I'll go ahead and refit the oil pan and fill her back up.

Drowswap, you were the one in the other thread who told me not to run it again because of the tapping. Lol

Refill with rotella and dump in some break in additive for good measure, iirc I did cut my filter open when I drained the breaking oil and there was a little bit of metal , its normal IMO that's why its called break in

If you are real concerned about a noise video and post it

Yes. Needed fresh eyes since you and one other were the only ones posting in the other thread.
