Default front end parts and service questions

ok so I was doing my wheel bearings last week when i noticed that i have a leaking trunnion seal on one side and the other has free play... so does any one have a good write up on doing this i read the swivel ball preload article in the disco 1 tech section, it seems easy enough but i was looking for more info. also what do i need parts wise?

Do you have a copy of the Service Manual called the "Rave"? Has all the info you could possibly stand. Incase you don't; landroverresource.com and it's the 590mb download.

Ihscouts is right. I just did a full rebuild on my swivel ***** and used the Rave Manual for the whole thing.

Overall the job is pretty straightforward, but the manual will be a good outline. There IS a good 'how-to' video on Youtube I watched a long time ago where a British mechanic does the whole job on both sides of some chick's Defender. Not a Disco, but same basic steps. Do a search for Defender Axle Hub or swivel pin ...or death wobble fix ...something like that.

The manual is obviously the final word but it's still helpful to watch the video if you haven't done it before because the mechanic points out things that ya might not think about that can save ya a lot of time. For example, and this seems like an extraordinarily stupid thing to do ....but I've actually done it on a Toyota (twice!!), it's exceedingly easy to take the whole axle assembly apart, put it all back together and forget to put the ball sweep seals in, only to have to take the whole thin apart and do the job all over. Except on a Toyota it's a lot tougher job because the cone washers that secure the locking hub are a major paint to remove.

this link is great, a bit idiosyncratic, but he gives all the info you could need. thanks for the tip.
one last question, does any one sell a service kit that includes all the commonly worn parts( railco bearing pins gaskets etc)? looking to get this done in one Sunday, so i need most of the common sense parts on hand.
