Question Front engine cover gasket...

Do you use any type of sealant on the front engine cover gasket? The RAVE says to lightly grease gasket faces. I am thinking light coating of Hylosil.

Also there was no gasket on the oil pan. I have a cork gasket. Should I just use Hylosil alone or Hylosil with the cork gasket?

TIA

front cover....nothing but the gasket needed, the idea behind the grease is supposedly the coolant wont be able to penetrate the grease impregnated gasket....if the surfaces are clean, you'll be fine with just the gasket....

oil pan....a lot of guys have mentioned having trouble with the cork gasket.....fwiw...I used "great stuff" rtv on the pan on several engines( no gasket) narry a leak ( knocking on wood !!!)
