Default fuel pump replacement

Well, I am all for using genuine parts. That said, I just replaced my pump with an airtex E3270. You will need to get some 5/16" fuel injection line that can be in fuel, and a new sock FS22. Everything goes back together just like it should. The only tricky part was getting the line the right length so the pump assembly can be compressed to fit tight in the tank and not crimp the line.

Total cost was just under $80 for the pump ($63), the sock ($9) and the fuel line ($5). Advance Auto has a labor day special for 20% off if you order online. I ordered and picked up in the store. They already had everything and now I can put the boat in tonight. I was worried she wouldn't be ready for the weekend.

There is a write up on Dweb for changing the pump. I am pretty sure this would work for non-ael systems too. I have only had it in for an hour and have driven all over, highway too. I HAVE NOT TESTED this, but others have used it, and I was in a pinch to get it quick. I will post back if I have a problem.

Proceed at your own risk, but it seems to be a good replacement and many parts stores carry the pump.

Cheers!

good to know, that sounds like a fair price. My d1 has a fuel pump from a chevy caprice that the PO installed..seems to work fine but a little noisy.

For 100 bucks (non-AEL version), you can get a ProLine fuel pump assembly from Rovers North. It drops right in and works fine. I have one in my early 97.
