Default Fuel tank breather hose - going to the speed shop!

After many calls around the country, I found this particular "breather" hose to cost anywhere from $98 to $45. So, I had the breaker pull one, so i can sample it and understand the high cost. After looking at the hose, and scratching my head a few times....i couldnt find the hidden gold in the hose....

From personal experience from building race cars to race bikes, I normally would use highpo hoses from Russel, Earl's...and the like. I sat ther and thought to myself....why not use it for this application...what the heck is the difference!?!?

So, i called around the local speed shops and asked for a 12AN (12an = 12/16inch = 3/4inch) nylon braded fuel hose. Average....$9 a foot....can you believe it!!!!

I will let you all know the outcome when done.....friggin $98...F-that!

I replaced mine with 3/4 tygon formulation F-4040-A.Ah, the joys of working at an aviation facility... Really, any fuel safe hose should do.

Anyone know the exact length. I went under the truck today and it looks like I need to drop the tank. I measured 3 ft...but I want to be exact or a little on the extra side....
