That's great mpg for a 97 with that many miles on it. Are the O2's new or original?

When I bought the disco in 2007 it had 70k and I was getting 10mpg city and 13 highway. I replaced the ignition cables with bosh (looking forward the 8mm magnecor) replaced plugs with bosh fusion (best you could get), replaced air filter with OEM or Wix at least every 6 months( (sometimes every 3 months based on road/off-road use) changed my oil every 3000 miles with 5W30 M1(I was finally able to find some M1 european vehicule formula 0W40 and I will switch at my next oil change) with M1 oil filter, replaced the trans filter and switched to synthectic ATF, axles front/rear got M1 80W140, removed rear seats, got some stock size slightly used michelin M/S tires and finally used premium fuel 91.

Every time I was doing something mpg improved a little to get where it's at right now.

I drain all the fluids at least once a year. I don't know if I will drain the CDL this year, my wife got it done last year while I was overseas because it was leaking and they stripped the thread on the casing and the drain plug is barely hanging there...

The O2 sensors are original, as far as I can tell, I am planning on getting them replaced with some OEM, not generics, all 02 sensors are not made egal accuracy and range of data reading might or might not match the kind of data the ECU requires. Some "generic" O2 sensors are OEM sensors that don't meet OEM specs so it might or might not work for a particular application because you will never what you will be getting.

So it will take 265.72 gallons till it pays for its self?

$94.90 x $2.8 = 265.72 gallons x 18.5 = 4,915.82 Miles Or 265.72 gallons.

Or am I way off?

or is it....

16mpg = .175$ per mile
18.5 = .15$ per mile

.175- .15 = .025 saving/difference per mile

94.90$ / .025 = 3,796...................miles till it pays for its self.

Well Spence if you are right it will pay for itself in about a month with all the driving you do.

Yes. This is the correct formula.

That Volo seems interesting, of course their page lead me to the HHO stuff... I thought all the HHO stuff was a bunch of whoee?

Not cheap either, at around 1400 bucks for the unit that would be needed for a disco. Would be interesting to see what the real world gains if any would be on a rover.

I'm not sure how I achieved this but:
330 miles/~19.5gallons=~17mpg. I took it on the highway twice for about 15 miles total.
I was at ~200 miles when I had half a tank.
96 D1 5 speed, 126k all stock
