gas pedal problem

yesterday i went test drove a very nice 96 disco 1 but when i gave it gas..the pedal went close to the floor before it took off so i was thinking it could be the spring in the pedal or what else could it be...

Did you pop the hood and look at the throttle linkages? Could be something loose or maybe the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)?
