Too bad. With the size of the tires you have you are better off with GBR's thicker gears anyway.

Yeah, but that was a good deal, I would have had enough left over cash to buy 25 minutes worth of gas

I have Ashcroft 4.12 gears and they're the cat's ***. I also got them for about $250 total.
3.90 gearing is an odd size, not really worth the time and money IMO. Go big or go home!

Ashcroft HD gears are as tuff as it gets. Teeth are massive and the 8 tooth pinion is real tuff. Never compared to GBR but I doubt there is a lot of difference.

GBR disagrees, but I'm sure they have a marketing consultant backing them up.: Coil Sprung - Diff Gearing
They indicate that the gears use a 9 tooth pinion.

Not sure where they get this but Ashcroft HDs are 4.12 with a 33/8 tooth count, not 4.11s with a 37/9. Might be the old Ashcroft, who knows. Either way your fine unless you have a lead foot at 36"+ tiresName: photobucket-1689-1376694320019_zpsf92e4ac1.jpg

Ian said it. The teeth count is different between 4.11 and 4.12.

i hate not knowing and just speculating. when i use the calculator, i don't select any over drive, is that right or am i wayyyyy off? even so, i drive in third around town and i don't get up to 50 too often but i did today, I've got 2500 rpm at 50mph on the gps (not the speedo) in third gear and a hair above 2000 rpm at 40mph in third. i just plugged in 33" tires with 4.11 gears on the calc and everything matches. I haven't jacked up the front or rear axle and spun the wheel to see how many times the driveshaft turns simply cause i don't have a floor jack, also its raining today. i know the previous owner traveled cross country and said he had some work done somewhere but don't remember where he said so the other day i went through all the paper work he gave me that goes with it s and i found a rover connection (now british parts of utah) business card in with it. i think my next move is to wait for a reply on here lol and call bputah

bputah is parts only, and they don't sell gears. If you have oversize tires with an OD of around 32-33 inches and your speedometer and GPS agree when you are traveling at highway speeds, then you have lower than stock gears in the truck. The best way to figure out what is going on however is to jack it up and count the driveshaft revolutions. If you put your transfer case in neutral you only have to jack up one wheel and spin it.
