Got my first Rover, 95' with a 4.2L?
Found a 1995 Discovery on craigslist that a scrap guy picked up. He was told the tranny/motor was bad and to haul it off for scrap. The guy who picked it up thought it was too nice to shred so he started working on it. He notices the starter wire was loose so the tightened it up and it ran! He even drove it around and let it idle for a hour assuming the heads were gone. It didn't leak or overheat. So... I'm a proud new owner. 
The weird thing is this, I popped the hood expecting a 3.9 and saw the manifold said 4.2. Any ideas on verifying it's just the intake or a motor swap? I've got some pictures that might help the case.

All Range Rover Classics had a dizzy, they also had the 4.2L.
So I am betting it is a swap.
There is probably a serial number stamped on the block somewhere, that should tell you if it is in fact a 4.2.

Sweet for you...and Spike, I forgot you could get the 4.2L.

You sir, are lucky and cursed at the same time.
The 4.2 is one ballsy motor, and I would be extremely jealous if I still had a Rover.
It also has a notoriously weak bottom end due to it only having two bolt mains. A friend of mine blew a main cap out the side of the block on his 4.2. He said the hell with it, threw a main from a completely different truck back in, and JB Welded the hole in the side of the block. This was many thousands of miles ago, and it doesn't skip a beat. It's not a DD of course, but it's just fine for a trail rig.
