Default the great spark plug debaten on D1

title reflects the war I will probly start posting this but here goes
what spark plug have you had good luck with on the D1? coil pack or distributer ignition?

got to pull one to see what I have but have seen reference to bosch +4 and champion 318??? both run like $4-6 per plug also seen mentioned that on rover not using that champion plug results in premature coil failure? seriously doubt that

I use whatever the cheapest copper plug is I can find. I usually buy them ahead of time when I get a good deal on them, like 75¢
Never seen any difference in how they run.

This. Usually that ends up being the Champion or AutoLite Coppers.

IMHO, don't waste your time/$ with Bosch Plat +4 or BullSh*t E3s.

I've run Champion Copper with little issues, but in the last few years I have had the best results with NGK #7734 (BPR5ES). Start-up is spot on, and idle (warm or cold) is smooth.

What do you mean "better"? Copper plugs are the cheap ones that have been around forever.

I know little about plugs in general other then gaping, use never sieze and dielectric grease, check for defects, and pulling em to try and diagnose drivability issues by their appearance

I know I have never had good luck with champion or auto lite, a lot of times I found the autolites ceramic would fall down and cover the electrode causing intermittant drivability issues, champions seem to flood easily but I am referencing use in carburated small block v8's , I know you will say that just shows there is another problem fuel or spark but when time and again the problem disappears by simply going to AC delco, ngk, Bosch it tells me the plugs are the problem

Think I run the ngk referenced above in my d1 have to pull one to see

Now the wifes Mazda putting in the big $ irridiums increased the MPG a lot so ..........

I mainly posted this thread to see what guys used on d1 with good results and what worked poorly or was found to be a waste of $ as help for non motorheads

tried making an easily searched topic title but I misspelled it of course but am sure a modd can help.
