Another hard to find and more expensive tool is an impact rated 1/2 drive 26mm deep socket for our steel lug nuts. The 27mm sockets for our capped lug nuts are much more common. I'm going to post a write-up on removing the caps quickly and easily soon.

This is the one I recently ordered: SIMM260, Socket, Metric, Impact, Deep, 26 mm, 6-Point

At 34.75 a group buy would be great.

But you can buy the actual tire tool for $15 at Atlantic British.

True but to get the specified lug nut torque with a torque wrench I need a socket. It's also very handy to give Les Schwab employees so they don't round off the nuts when they don't have the right size socket.

Also, if you're talking about NTC7829; It's 1-1/16 and every socket and wrench of that size I've tried, I've had to hammer on. 27mm fits with better tolerance but still snug IMHO.

Also, both of those sizes are for capped lug nuts so that tool wouldn't work for uncapped. Uncapped steel lug nuts are 26mm. I suppose a group buy for the 27 and/or 26 mm would be great. There's certainly people who haven't or wont remove the caps. 27mm sockets are a lot easier to find IMHO though so there's less need in that way.

Once I hear back from him I will ask about the lug sockets too.

Spike, thank you for organizing this. Can I ask what makes the Snap On that much better than a Craftsman? I understand that Snap On tools in general are higher quality than Craftsman. However this socket can be had at any Sears for about $5. Has a lifetime warranty and can be returned to any Sears. A job specific socket like this wouldn't see too much use and the usage it does see isn't very strenuous.
I think there might be more interest in a Snap On group buy for torque wrench or impact gun. IDK, just a thought.

Nothing makes Snap-On better than Sears in my opinion, I bought mine at Sears.
Alot of guys are reporting that they cannot find this socket anywhere, Sears, Lowes, etc. so I am just trying to help these guys out if possible and give my cousin a few sales in the mean time.

I would like a nice 12 point deep socket 1/4 inch drive set if he has them at a reasonable price. I know the Sears here does not stock that 12 point 8mm 1/4 drive socket or a set that includes it.

They have cheapened their Craftsman line added some lower priced lines as well and continue to downsize a lot of their retail outlets around here. They are talking about eliminating some and they just opened a large discount sales place, so I think their main location here may be slated for closure.

The lug nuts are 1 1/16 until the caps get damaged. Then it's whatever you can get on them Eric. I have the solid steel ones from RRC and a four way spinner type lug wrench mounted in the rear of my Discovery.
