I keep mine turned facing rear, just like on the camel trophy rovers, IMO forward facing makes it a ram air scoop to force feed dust dirt bugs water whatever

I was on the fence but I scored a south down for 150. Needless to say I'm joining the snorkel crowd!

Remove the air filter, there are drain holes in the bottom of the air filter box.

When you drive in deep water you you drive at the correct speed you create a bow wake, behind the bow wake is a cavity where the water is shallower than its actual depth.
So the engine stays dry.
You can see this for yourself in the kitchen sink, hold your hand vertical, move it threw the water, water is deeper in front of your hand and shallower behind it.
Same thing when you wade with your truck or car.

Till you lose all forward momentum then the water rushes in to fill the void I know exactly what you mean spike

Wouldn't that work against you then if you were to stop, or be in too deep water? it would suck water up through the holes .. perhaps I am over thinking this whole thing just trying to get it straight however

Hmm .. so that leads me back to my original question, for those who keep their snorkel intake facing forward, the water just collects in the intake? .. haha

I guess so, if you use it for dust only conditions there is a different head that is as clear bowel prefilter
