Default Heating up

I bought a 1997 disco one off a guy he said it’s been sitting for two or three years I don’t know exactly anyways it’s heating up I had the radiator checked it seems to be OK I put on the upper and lower hose a new water pump thermostat and a new fan clutch.
filled it up with radiator fluid change the oil seems to be working OK runs good then I drive it around the block for about a couple miles and it starts heating up I stop it press the throttle and the needle seems to go down a little but it still heats back up again I hope it’s not the head gasket nothings leaking or no white puff of smoke coming out the tailpipe I’m kind of confused and stumped I’ve hade this problem before on a 98 but fixed it 😮

Oh man....it could be lots of things. Did you replace the thermostat? I use the 180 degree Stant SuperStat 45858. It's around $7 on RockAuto. Spring side goes toward block, and jiggle ball should be at the top. You'll also need a new gasket. I use the Felpro 12994.

After multiple coolant flushes, a new thermostat, all new hoses, a new overflow tank (it had split), a new fan clutch (it had stopped roaring), and a new water pump (leaky and bearing was failing), I finally replaced the radiator with a Nissens and my high temp issues were solved. The new fan clutch helped tremendously, but the truck would still climb into the 210 degree range in stop and go Denver traffic. The new radiator keeps me around 190'ish even in heavy traffic.

I was just attempting to flush crap out of the radiator to make it more efficient. That didn't work in my case.

Did you burp the system really well? These things are crazy finicky if you don't get all the air out of the system.

Oh, also ensure you have the serpentine belt routed correctly.

Here's what I do:

Remove bleeder screw on top of radiator (passenger side) and fill to top with coolant.
Fill expansion tank to proper level.
Start vehicle and let it warm, squeeze top radiator hose constantly to purge air.
Turn heat to high and turn on fan to monitor if coolant is flowing through your heater core. You'll probably hear bubbling in the heater core until the air has been purged.
Let it run until coolant starts to flow from the bleeder screw.
Replace bleeder screw, squeeze top radiator hose a few more times.
Ensure expansion tank is still at proper level.
Take it for a short drive, check the level again.
Let it cool for a bit and then fill expansion tank to proper level.
