Default HELP PLEASE! lol... 1996 Disco Injector Issue

Ok, so I have an issue... I bought a 96 disco, it was "claimed" to have a seized motor, upon inspection it was hydrolocked and removing the plugs and draining the motor of the gas/oil combo freed it right up... My question is, A.) I have narrowed the "flooding" to 1 injector, is this a faulty o-ring kit repair and I'm done? B.) If not, and I need a new injector, is there a non-replacement (non OEM) injector I can replace only ONE of , without it causing an issue with the other 7, as the replacement injectors are upward of 200$ and quite frankly that's a bit pricey, I'll pay it if need be, but obviously a cheaper route would be nice... Also, if it matters, I have no use for the off-road lifestyle the Disco is adaptable to, merely to and from work, if that makes a difference in whether the performance of replacing one with a stray injector would stress the other 7s abilities... Thanks for any advice in advance

You have seven "worn" injectors so it would be wise to find another "worn" injector that's known good. Contact Paul Grant or Abran to see if they have an injector they can sell you. Chances are you have seven more time bombs...... so see if they have a set of eight lightly used for sale. I'm sure more posts are to follow because there's an opinion on everything Rover here. $200 for anything Rover is a bit pricey BUT these vehicles can be one of the most reliable there is when sorted out properly. Mine starts without issue at -25F with 190k on the clock.

Good luck.

Default 8 used injectors

I found a full fuel rail, with 8 injectors (claimed working) for about 50$ on ebay, but if I am going that route, I would want to get 8 o-ring sets with filters as well (around another 40$-80$), as I don't want to do this twice lol... I am confused as to the actual reason my injector is leaking, not sure if its "stuck" open or the seal is bad, any insight on that specific diagnosis would be useful, as I'd just assume buy 8 injector "repair" kits for the ones I have, just not sure that it will resolve my issue ... Was hoping someone was gonna say " I had the SAME problem, and it was merely a bad lower o-ring" lol... Wishful thinking I suppose... Also, buying anything on ebay requires shipping time, and I hear that some ford mustang or explorer injectors would fit, but I can't find which ones, and I figured if I can get 8 for the price of 2-3 200$ ones then I would just swap them ALL to a non-replacement injector pending cost efficiency, and could pick them up at a local auto parts vendor and spare myself the 4-7 day wait on parts... I surely don't want to spend 1400$-ish on 8 180$ injectors that are listed as replacement from autozone... They have generic models when I search, but they say NOT FOR SELECTED VEHICLE, they range from 40$-60$ and come with new wire harnesses to splice in, but I have reservations on them as the autozone website that directs me to them recommends they are NOT for my vehicle lol... I just want to stop having to borrow a car to go to work when I have one plated and insured in my driveway lmfao

I appreciate the link, however again I would rather pick them up not order them for timely purposes... When I looked up the part number it references that it is for a Benz c500 (among other models) specifically... So when I looked under autozone for a 1999 cl500 (as that was one of the specific uses) it lists several non-specific injectors, also when I search for 1996 Disco, I get the SAME non-specific results, is it safe to assume that if the cl500 injectors fit, then the non-specific injectors that seem to fit both (they are 49.99$ and in stock) would be the same universal injectors? They run 21-30 lbs... Again, sorry to be such a pain, just trying to get mobile again lol...

The injector failed wide open.

Thank you for a specific answer ... And pardon my ignorance, however I have always been (until now apparently lol) an early 80's chevy driver and fuel injection is NOT my cup of tea... Presumably what you mean, is the mechanical flange or "damper" as it were? is stuck in the open position, and electronically failed? Or is it something soaking in parts cleaner may "un-stick"? Also presumably the repair kit (which is merely 2 o-rings and a filter) is NOT the solution here correct? Again if the best solution is to eat the 180$ I shall, but then I am inclined to buy future 180$ injectors as my "time-bombs" detonate... Sorry to be so **** in my line of questions, I just don't want to waste any further money or time as I have already replaced a 150$ fuel pressure regulator in my quest to find the issue lol

You have a faucet of fuel running at 3X psi into one cylinder. Once they're stuck that's it. Broken/bent is more like it. You can hear a good one, it will rattle. Broken and it's silent. No amount of cleaner will do magic. They either fail open or closed. Closed sounds like a dropped cylinder, open will too because your plug is so wet it won't spark so they both "sound" the same while running. Wiki fuel injection......
