High RPM when clutch is engaged
Hello All,
I started my D1 today and noticed an increase in RPM when clutch is engaged. I will go up to about 2000 and drop to 1500 before smoothing out.
Only difference is that we are in the single digit weather pattern, 8 degrees now.
How can I resolve this?
What should I be looking at?
This wasn't going on last week.

Are you saying that the engine speed increases when you depress the clutch pedal in neutral, or that it increases when you release the pedal in neutral?
The former is a cold oil viscosity behavior, use a thinner gear oil if the ambient is routinely going to be that cold.
The latter is unusual, I don't have any thoughts on that behavior.

Thanks for the quick response Racer X!
Engine speeds up when I press the clutch to the floor.
After work the car started doing it again. I needed to make a few stops before heading home. After awhile it worked itself out.
Good tip on the thinner gear oil.
So the engine speed increase was the result of cold gear oil(transmission fluid)
And after driving and warming the oil it returned to normal operations?
Thank you!
