they are bolted to the sill both on the side (shown in photos) and also on the under side of the sill, the bolts go into "rivnuts" basically a rivet that leaves the thread when install, i used M8 bolts there are 8 along the underside of the sill. i figured if i hit some thing hard enough to bend both the bar and sill then that is the least of my worries.
the stick out from the side of the door approx 150mm, or which lines up wit the outer edge of my tires. they are strong enough to high lift jack off them , assuming the body mount does not rip out of it position.

Am going to be making rear bars next.

Cheers

the RHS or box section is 50 x 50 X 3mm wall, capped at both end, and the tube is 1 1/4" Medium wall black pipe, (3.2mm) and the plate that bolt to the sill is 3mm Corten or Medium tensile steel.

took approx 6-8 hrs to build both sides and fit them, so labour and materials would be roughly 700-800 buxs NZD, the freight to the States would kill them cold !!!! to fit them you need to drill out the holes to 7/16 and insert the riv nuts, and then drill the under side of the sill to fit the riv nuts,

cheers
