Woks fine for our rally cars. Form follows function. If you get the needed light without the weight and overhang of a bumper, what's not to like? It's a truck. Unless it's showing at the Concours D'Elegance, who cares?

I guess if you have absolutely nowhere else to mount lights and its a rally car then its great. However, for 99.9% of the users on this forums there is no need to put one of those hideous things on their hood. With LED lighting its getting harder and harder to justify the large size and amp draw of traditional halogen lighting like the Hella 4000's used in that pod. You can get the same amount of light or better in a much smaller package and for less amp draw with LED's.
That said, I really like my two Hella 4000 cornering beams. The light they throw is ok but most of all I like the way the round lights look. But now we're back to looks, and that light pod looks like someone pooped on the hood.

I don't disagree with respect to the LED's, but he did not ask for a compare / contrast. All things being equal, LED's are generally more desirable for the reasons you state. I'm just saying for a utility vehicle; whether it is a 4x4 truck or a race car, one has to weigh what's more important, form or function. The function is there.

You say Form and Function as if they're mutually exclusive. There's no reason you can't have both. Most of the time you can bolt the lights right to the stock bumper. If not a simple bolt on light bar like this would get the job done and look 1000 times better than the pod.

Which is what I said.
It's fine (if you ignore looks since that's a personal thing anyway) for rally cars. But for highway use it's illegal to use the lights in it and for the "normal" off-roading that 99% of the people here do, roof mounted lights are better suited.
