Default Hot d1

Mutley got hot enough to boil over a LITTLE no meltdown. First time but ALSO the first 90* day and A/C

I LOOKS like the electric fans are not working. I NEVER hear them run so
1. WHERE IS THE RELAY (fuse is good)
2. HOW are the wires run to the fan
3. Can I replace with an electric fan from the modified?

Take Care
George P.

Check the RAVE manual for wiring scheme, Todd has it in his sig. But did it just start overheating? Have you checked your oil, coolant?

It won't be the relay and verify the air flow with the factory fans, in the Rave, to have a guide for any after market and go heavier.

That was the first thing I looked at, all was fine BEFORE with the water only being low after making the tea.
Thanks will check.
The temp is lower outside so there has been zero problem since that one time.

George,

Just a couple of things. The electric fans should come on whenever the A/C is switched on and stay on as long as the A/C is on. They also are switched on by an "overtemp" sensor/switch. I don't remember what that predetermined temp is but is in the RAVE. There is a separate Electrical Troubleshooting Manual" that fully details each circuit but it is fragmented to show the Power connections in one section, the fuse details in another, and the ground distribution in another. Tracing one individual circuit is pretty fragmented from section to section. I printed the entire manual and the cross tabbed it for easy reference, I usually end up sitting down with a sketch pad and detailing the complete circuit then going to the vehicle because the way the manual is set up it is impossible to follow a circuit without a whole lot of page flipping and deciphering. Doing it on screen is a real chore.

If the fans do not switch on with the A/C, I would disconnect the wiring right at the fans and verify the incoming power at the connector, read the resistance of the fan motors. I have read that the fans will bind up. Replacing them with a fan with a higher CFM airflow would be the way I would suggest. Using the reference Mike provided. Or contact Will Tillery, he probably has a good working used one available if you want to stay with the original equipment. Will is my preferred source of used but still good parts. He will do you right on the correct part and a good price that includes shipping.

I know you will do it right. Take care. Good to see you back on here.

All I did was WASH Mutley and he is now HAPPY and not Overheating at all.
Front fans still do not come on when you tuns on the A/C so need to address that problem.
Next thing is to fix up "THE STRAY" that followed me home. Needs a transfer Case and get the title from the PO. He lost it to storage fees (3 years at $25.00 per month) so I got it and now need to get the title. NO I was NOT the storage person they just wanted this out of their lot so I gave them some $$$ and brought it home.

George,

That is cool. I took my air compressor and blew out my radiator right after buying mine. It resembled a dudt storm in the Sahara, lots of dried up red mud was caked on everything, 90PSI thru an air gun did wonders!

You still racing?
