Lightbulb How to fix all your rover problems!!

My DD 96 Disco old girl has been replaced by a chevy 40 MPG car. She now gets to sit in the shade In the driveway and rests 6 days a week. And to my surprise, she no longer has any issues. Meant to be a joke.
Now Nothing on your rover is urgent to fix except rust and spider webs. These trucks are great but even better when not used daily drivers. The money i'm saving having her parked is helping aid her restoration. $700 monthly in gas, $200 average in repairs monthly. The less miles I spend on the highway cussing at the crappy drivers is a great way to better spend her miles on trails. Im glad and sad to say...... My 96 Disco has ended her career as a DD and begun a new life and a British overland TOY!!! Retiring your Disco as a daily driver will not only save yougas obviously, but when you don't depend on her you can afford the time to fix issues yourself without the urgency (costly to be in a hurry).

We save the Rover for interesting trips and use a RAV4 for everything else.

Other ways to save your Rover:

Have an economical commute vehicle (that isn't gay):

Have other off road options (that aren't gay):

My Rover has never been a DD unless the DD is down and out of action. Could never afford to DD it! Its 20+ mile round trip to the grocery store!

Wink

Mine is a DD but I moved into the city... walk, cycle, run, and use the Skytrain (it's a subway in Vancouver but above ground)

I used to live in a mountainous area just outside the city, and fuel was a killer... had to fill up every 4 days!

My 98' is a DD. Does the 66 mile round trip to my office plus the additional running around seeing clients 5-days a week & plays hard on the weekend. Even though it requires a bit more cost to maintain than my cadillac SUV I recently sold, the savings realized from the lack of an $800.00 car payment makes it all worth it to me.
