I'd top hat it so I could sleep at night....... What a huge PITA the 03/04's are for such a block casting hack job. Heat hit or miss is probably the thermostat sticking........ you hope.

I gave that one a thought as it would be the lesser of any evil that it could be, I figured the car probably never really had to run heat for the many years it was in the SW and Fla, perhaps it is the sticky thermostat, I will have the full coolant lines checked by a professional, could be any one of 2-3 hoses, perhaps a leak anywhere along them or a problem with the t-stat itself, probably a new one thrown inline along with new hoses and I'll have a closer look at the gaskets.... Im ordering one of those OBD2 iphone adaptors so I'll check it all out when that arrives, until then, I'll be driving my JK

Sitting next to a happy hour buddy at watering hole on a Wednesday. Talking about his move to a new apartment. Asked if I knew anyone who wants a '97 Discovery? All they have to do is get it. Wife says "We do". Before I knew it I agreed to get it out of his garage spot. Sitting over a year.... Had to use two sets of cables but it cranked and started. Tires all nearly flat. Drove it onto the trailer and away it went.

Most recent Land Rover's cost me 800.00 for the 98 D1 with engine work, then 3,000.00 for another 98 in as good of shape as your going to find for a 17 year old D1. I'm now currently looking at an 04 D2 SE for 4,000.00.

I know of several apparently abandoned D1's that I'd like to drag off for parts, but I can't find out who owns them.

Got my D1 almost 2 years ago,97 sd with 125K miles, and a "bad fuel pump" which turned out to be a burnt connector. fixed power window ECM, front pivot ***** and bearings, CV joint, front shock, front drive shaft, That is all I can recall so far. Paid $650 when I pulled it home. most definitely needed some TLC. body is in great shape, nice interior.

Bought a 96 D1 5speed for $2500 in 2008. At the time everything was in perfect working order, just needed 1 universal joint.

I paid $3200 8/4/15. 2001 SE7 with 117K miles. The bad is a couple door dings, rear door locks inoperable, jack tool kit missing. The good, no warning lights, interior is in great shape, dealer service records until about 80K miles, no rust or serious leaks underneath, paint in great shape (must have been garage kept).

Paid $500.00 for my D1 7 yrs ago. Bad transfer case. Truck had been owned by a Dr. and when the transfer case started giving him problems he bought an new one and let this one set in his garage for 4 years.
The truck was like brand new inside and out with 80k on it. I had it towed from S. Connecticut to Mass with my AAA free towing under a hundred miles membership.

I had a donor truck that I swapped out the transfer case for. It is still in there today

This is the earliest picture I could find at hand. None of the gear was on it.

$2000 for 96 D1, 173000 with brand new Goodyear a/t's, new radiator and hoses, new brakes, front seats redone, everything works except the fog lights and one sunroof doesn't completely lock down upon closing. Smooth running engine, good shifting trans, something's gotta go wrong. Of course I've only had it a week, there's plenty of time.
