We paid $1600 for our '96 SE7 with 117k in late October, virtually no rust (just some surface rust on the bumpers and tailgate) but some mechanical issues (exhaust gasket, brake pads, shocks, rotoflex), bad Tcase (CDL not unlocking), new tires. We have 123k on it now and about $2300 in all together. I haven't seen many sub-$2k for sale around here, and they seem to have as many, if not more, needs than ours.

Oh, it wasn't the purchase price of $2880.00 for my really clean; Colorado rust-free; bone-stock 98'; "airport vehicle", but the thousands (and I mean thousands) I've spent in self-inflected purchases that I quietly shake my head at in retrospect. I figure I have well over $10,000 (with no end in sight) in it the was she sits today, and I like it so much, it's become my daily driver. So if I rationalize it to a $500.00 monthly car payment over the past (2) years, I'm $2000.00 ahead!! Well, at least that's what I keep telling my wife

got my 1997 D1 for $700 in October of last year (about 4 months ago) P.O. said it needed a fuel pump. It wasn't the fuel pump, just some burned connections. ( got the fuel pump before I figured it out) still needs some tweaking here and there but a nice running truck!

700 bucks for my 98 with 82k back in May with brand new michelins x 5. All stock, with records of all services performed by the dealer that sold it. No rust yet. Needed a little tweaking here and there, but nothing that has prevented it from being a daily driver since the day I got it. Now sits a little better with 2" OME lift.

I think I win. I bought mine for $350 and it hasn't had too many issues so far. Slight trans cooler leak, spider alarm issue, and some negligible rust; but she runs alright. I need a new tie rod because my left one is bent, but overall it was a steal.

I paid a little over 7K for my 1999 D1, that's rust free with a 1998 D1 300TDI conversion - engine, transfer and auto trans. I have done a bunch to it since I got it in December, mechanical and accessories. I am probably into it for about $11K now......

We paid $850 about 2.5 years ago for Jen's '96 w/ 111k. Had coolant in oil, so we bought it on the thought it needed head gaskets. Opened it up and 2 liners were slipped.

Truck was overall great condition with full compliment of LR brush & light guards, only had sagging head liner and ONLY rust is slight in the rear door jams and slight discoloration start under the alpine windows (will tend to these this year along with respraying the roof).

Decided it was worth it to swap engine. Took me a year in my free time (w/ truck being at Jen's parents'). But, now it is awesome with rebuilt heads and a 4.6 engine from a '97 RR w/ 117k. We also put 245/75R16 wrangler duratracs, have jump seats I'm in the process of putting in, along with an ome lift.

I paid $11,000 for my Disco back in 2001. It was pristine and dealer serviced. The guy that sold it didn't like it because it was rough riding and had some rattles. He wanted to get a nice comfy Japanese 4X4. I think I got a great deal. 13 years and 100K later, the Disco is still going strong. But, it still rides a little rough and has some rattles. ;^)

I paid $35,000 plus tax for my Brand new Discovery I in Beluga Black in Seattle WA in Dec 1996.

We sold it March 2012 for $3,300 or so with 165000 miles on it.
