Each deal varies. I was in Titusvill Florida where Kennedy Space Center is located. I once bought a 1973 Mustang from a neighbor. He had paid $1500 for it from the original owner with 120K on it. He held it a couple of years, lost interest in it. I gave him $750 for it. Drove it two years, it was an awesome running 302 last year of the full size Mustangs (biggest made actually). I was moving to Pittsburgh and needed to sell it. I put it in the paper for $3500. A young kid came out and droveit, he and his brother came back that night with the $3500 in hundred dollar bills and drove it home.

If I could get yours for $1500, I would be happy to buy it.

When I was hunting for my 5spd Disco it seemed most of them I found were up in the New England states or the ones I found around here in the south (TX) had come from up there and had the rust underneath to show for it. The one I ended up buying was indeed first registered in Boston but only spent a year there before moving down south so is rust free underneath. With that said I think $2500 is a fair price to ask, but personally as it is a northern vehicle with all the rust I'd only think about buying it for $1500.

Going OT for a minute, V8 Mustangs are the easiest cars to sell. I've owned 3 in my life, each one of them I bought from someone in a hurry to sell, kept each for about a year and sold each for about $1K more than I paid for them.

For the people saying less than $2500, have you actually driven and crawled under a Disco I that was selling for under $2500?

There's usually a long list of compromises, usually with a couple of seriously expensive issues that you will have to fix sooner than later.

Not talking about LR enthusiasts dumping cars, I'm talking about normal people. People who don't change fluids.

I think you guys are low-balling him based on statistical outliers and excessive frugalness.

This is a low mileage Disco I with at least somewhat of a maintenance history. There's less risk involved in a car like this than on Craigslist or a dealership of any sort. You should factor that into the price.

I bought mine for $1k. 85k original miles on a '96 SE7 5speed manual tranny with the jump seats and rear step. Only issue is the high idle, but I can live with that for the time being. And no cancer. Some surface rust at the edges of metal, but nothing that would excite an autoboby shop.

Just fyi...I did know the po, and did get a good deal I think.

Damn, I must of gotten ripped off then when I bought my 98' Disco. I spent $4500 for it with 166K on it. I had a local rover shop replace the power steering gear box and perform a major tune up. So I guess it seems that I over paid based on what I am reading in this thread.

Oh well I am happy with my rig and it seems to run pretty strong.
