How much would you give my D1?
Damn, I must of gotten ripped off then when I bought my 98' Disco. I spent $4500 for it with 166K on it. I had a local rover shop replace the power steering gear box and perform a major tune up. So I guess it seems that I over paid based on what I am reading in this thread.
Oh well I am happy with my rig and it seems to run pretty strong.

Mine had 110K on it, no body damage, minor rust in the typical rear door arches and floor pans. I bought it 4 years ago at a small lot and paid 6 grand for it. No major problems but worked my way thru fuel system, new shocks and springs, and totally new brakes.
I do see quite a few in that 1000 to 2500 range these days. Much more than that for a Disco I is being generous unless it is immaculately maintained.

I agree with this for the most part. Either immaculately maintained, or some significant upgrades. I got one of mine for the lift kit and spare parts.
For less than 150k miles, with good paint and interior, and no major flaws that would keep it from passing inspection/emissions, I think you'd have a good argument for at least $2k.
I paid 3 digits for mine, and it had a new alternator and fuel pump to go with that lift kit and mud tires that still had decent tread on them. And a solid catback exhaust.
But I have to install new cats, new o2s, and a new windshield before I can even attempt to get it registered.
Oh, and for those with power steering problems, get a magnafine filter on that thing. It's saved a few pumps for me over the years. Put one on the tranny, too.

You can get them on Rockauto.com for $15 bucks or so before shipping.
I just flushed my fluid out, it was turning gray and whining. I'm sure I still have trash in it somewhere, as the whining is reduced, but still there.
This is my first Land Rover, but I intend to buy more of them in the near future. I want to stay with the Discovery I and keep them all as close to one another as possible for interchanability and ease of maintaining more than one vehicle.
Just got to convince the wife to get another one now....
Except I Didn't pay NEARLY 120$ for them.
