Default how to remove exhaust ball flange connector bolts Disco I

I'm in the process of replacing my exhaust from the center resonator to the tail. Have everything removed to the ball flange connector, but having trouble with the studs extruding from the y-pipe side of the connector (I sawzalled the nuts off). Can these studs be removed with a stud extractor or do I need to drill them out? Or could I try to hammer them out? Since the flange is loose, it makes the extraction a bit complicated.

Also, does anyone know a good place to get the rubber hangers? I ordered a Bosal exhaust and the rubber hangers seem to be out-of-stock everywhere right now. I may need to rely on the existing hangers until they come off backorder. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I had to drill out the studs.

Amazon has plenty of choices...

I couldn't drill them out so I melted them with a torch. just don't burn too much.. Then used bolts with nuts instead of studs.

Thanks WaltNYC, I'll try 8% cobalt bits and hopefully get through.

Thanks jimvw57, did you use acetylene or MAPP or something else?

lube with ATF to reduce heat if you are drilling.

The torch idea is better if you have access. I did not.

Thank you for this, I have to swap out the rotted out exhaust to a Magnaflow and new cats in the next week or so. Exhaust rubber mounts can be bought at rovers north, AB, or lucky8. Check out your heat shields above the exhaust system. I was under mine the other day and realized they were not secured up there and were missing nuts.

I’m not looking forward to drilling out the studs.
To bolt the cats to the cat back exhaust does anyone know if I use that, “olive,” or do I have to get a metal gasket?

IIRC there is no olive in there. just a nice secure fit between the two sections.
