You just squeeze some in the connector before you plug it together, or in the ends of the spark plug wires basically if its full of grease there's no room for water .

I use it in the bulb sockets too

That's interesting, I guess vaseline would work in a pinch.

Same deal just dielectric grease is made to not inhibit the electrical current, not sure about vaseline
