Identifying ripped wire
Doing a bit of side work on my 94 Disco resulted in me forgetting to tie up a wire seen below and the wire was ripped out of its source by the window when it was going down. One end of the wire is connected to the key lock mechanism seen below, the other end I think may have gone into the actuator but I am not sure. The actuator still works when i move the small rubber piece front and back, unlocking and locking all the doors. Any ideas guys? Thank you!
Two wires in the sleeve, yellow and black

Right above the inside of the key hole you can see one source of the wire

It sounds like the alarm switch wires from the door lock.
I say it sounds like because I cant see any photo.
That is the only wire situated near the barrel of the lock, the actuator wire links up further down.
They can be repaired easy enough if the wire is split, if it's torn out of the switch itself I'm not so sure.
EDIT: It shouldn't affect the alarm if you use the remote fob, you just wont be able to disable it using the Key, and your EKA code (key-based alarm/spider overide) wont work if your fob gives out. It'll work on the fob, but probably best to replace it when you can, nothing urgent unless your fob plays up......
Hope this helps.

Is that yellow wire ONLY yellow or does it have a pink marker stripe along its length too?
I ask because the ETM shows yellow / pink and a black running to the Left Front Door Actuator FROM the Theft Alarm Unit. That particular wire tells the alarm unit if the door is locked.

Yeah there is only a yellow and black wire. There is no pink stripe along its length... The alarm in the car is disabled anyways because the locks were doing crazy things but I then realized that it was just the springs in the door latches. The wire ripped out of its source which may have been the actuator, there is a small hole below the main wires that go into the actuator that I think they may have gone into. I will probably just tie it off and keep the alarm off. Also, what is the NAS ETM? and where can I get a copy? Thank you all!
Lev
NAS = North American Specification
ETM = Electrical Troubleshooting Manual.
The ETM is in the FULL version of rave not in the workshop manual.
It is in the PDF folder in RAVE and under the lj folder just below "Library".
In my signature below the first link will take you to the download page... the file with the LARGE FILE WARNING" is the one you want. lots of good stuff in there to answer most questions.

ok the wires there are the alarm switch wires...
they should plug into a loom further down that will also attach to the actuator. you should be able to just reconnect these into the plug.
I've had a lot of trouble with my alarm/locks that i know the damn thing inside out by now.
I'm pretty sure the wiring is the same on the US models.
follow the actuator plug down to the main wires, and that should lead back towards the trailing edge of the door, its likely that the alarm switch plug is dangling down by the latch.
Hope this helps.
And I can see the photo now, my firewall was blocking it!!!

Thank you Darren! I will look for that other end tonight! God I love these forums so much... It's so hard to find/notice stuff in those door panels, I didn't even notice the small guide arm for the interior door handle connector rod at first, had the regulator rubbin against the rod for a second there. Thanks again guys very helpful. Off to adjust my interior door handle and find that wires home
No problem.
i routed my wires around the back of the door frame itself. If you look inside the door towards the trailing edge you will see like a bar that runs from top to bottom, there's just about enough room to get the wires and plug around the back of this and out of the way of the window slider, should save it getting snagged again.
Fiddly little things aint they!?!
Have fun!

Although I'm torn here since I don't like cats all that much. hmmmm
that pic would make for a good "caption Contest"
